In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Dixon Family. Johnny's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Johnny Dixon, Sr.

Johnny Ladell Dixon, Sr., was born on May 10, 1933, in Alma, Arkansas. His parents were Chester (Sporty) and Gertrude Dixon. He departed this life on December 9, 2025.
He received his Honorary Diploma from Alma High School.
At the age of 17, Johnny joined the military and served honorably in the Korean War. Throughout his life, he owned several businesses and eventually retired after closing his last venture: the Midland Tunnel Car Wash in Fort Smith.
After leaving the Army, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he met the love of his life, Doris. They were married on December 23, 1966. After raising their children, they relocated to Alma, Arkansas, where they lived until his passing.
Johnny gave his life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alma before moving his membership to Faith Unlimited (formerly Full Counsel) under the leadership of Pastor Darryl Conley.
Johnny Ladell Dixon, Sr., was truly a man of valor, who loved God and people. His smile and warm, joyful laugh could light up any room. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He freely shared wisdom with both friends and newcomers alike. He deeply loved and supported his family. As the last surviving sibling, he proudly served as the patriarch of the entire family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, generosity, and faith—one that will forever be cherished in all our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Nine (9) sisters, and three (3) brothers and one (1) son.
Johnny’s legacy will live on through his wife: Doris Dixon; two (2) daughters: Claudia Haney and Paulette Murray both of Alma, Arkansas. Four (4) sons: Ladell (Ruby) Walton of Omaha, Nebraska, Stephen (Maretha) Combs of Little Rock, Arkansas; Johnny L. (Chanda) Dixon of Alma, Arkansas and Bruce Dixon of Spiro, Oklahoma. Bonus daughters: Kim Nelson of Fort Smith, Jolene Wynne and Gert Wells both of Van Buren, Arkansas and Lynette Mallory of Omaha, Nebraska. Twenty-two (22) grandchildren, forty-three (43) great grandchildren, and sixteen (16) great-great grandchildren. Along with a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 9:00am to 6:00pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., with a celebration of life service to follow on Wednesday, December 17, 2025; 10:30 o'clock am at New Covenant International Christian Center 4400 North N St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Burial and final resting place: Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
