Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Melvin Cal Williams, nicknamed Sonny, was born on August 14, 1937, in Roland, Oklahoma, to the late Bennie and Della (Thompson) Williams. He was the youngest of fifteen children born into a family rooted in faith, hard work, and love. On June 18, 2026, the Lord called Melvin home, and he entered into his eternal rest in Shady Grove, OK.

Melvin was a faithful man of God and a devoted student of His Word. His relationship with the Lord guided him throughout his life and gave him the wisdom and strength he shared so freely with his family and community. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, during which time he was stationed in Germany. This chapter of his life shaped his discipline and character for years to come. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and obtained a Biblical Degree in Theology from Harvest Time Tabernacle Bible College in 1986.

A man of enterprise and community spirit, Melvin owned and operated Smokey Joe's BBQ for 35 years, where his hard work and dedication touched the lives of many who came through his doors. Beyond his business, Melvin found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life — spending peaceful hours fishing at his pond and savoring a good meal among family and friends.

Melvin met the love of his life, Docy Ann (Gilkey) Williams while working construction in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. They were married on February 25, 1959, and together they built a life and a family grounded in faith and devotion. From this union came three sons: Norris, Tony, and Manyelle Williams.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Della (Thompson) Williams; one daughter, Melva; one granddaughter Beronica; nine brothers Sandy, Lawrence, Lloyd, Alonzo, Thomas, Bennie II, Bennie III, Jackie and Leon; three sisters Catherine, Esther, and Belester.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Docy Ann (Gilkey) Williams; his three sons, Norris (Wendy), Tony, and Manyelle (Susan) Williams; two sisters, Terry and Pearlene Williams; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, Torrell (Tarae, Tavian, Toraylon), Jessica (Addie, Akrissa, Danyelle), Josh (Jozlynn, Arais), Jada (Aiden, Daxton, Bryson, Cashdyn), Corey (Huck, Hank, Haze), Dallas (Aria, Aliyah), Shaely (Derrin, Summer, Donnie), Nate, Tyson, Taelynn, Zander and Amara. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold him dear.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday June 26, 2026; 10:00am to 6:00pm (family hour 5-6pm) Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday June 27, 2026; 11:00am Joy Life Kingdom Center 319 Grand Ave., Moffett, Oklahoma 74946.
