Joyce Marie Russell, 57, of Conway, Arkansas, formerly of Dumas, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born September 11, 1959 in Winchester, Arkansas to the late Pervis Russell Sr. and Birda Russell. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Russell.
Joyce was a 1978 graduate of Dumas High School in Dumas, Arkansas.
In 1978, Joyce gained employment with the Dumas Clarion, where she worked until 2006. She was also well-known in her community for being the scorekeeper for the Dumas Bobcats basketball teams for many years. She then moved to Conway, Arkansas in 2006 and was employed at Wal-Mart from 2007 to 2016. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and shopping.
Joyce leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son JaMicah Williams (Tamika) of Kansas City, Kansas; four daughters, April Williams of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Adrienne Williams, Alonzia Williams, and Alexandra Williams all of Conway, Arkansas; five brothers Gary Russell (Tarji) of Tillar, Arkansas, Pervis Russell Jr., (Je’neen) of Ewa Beach Hawaii, Jerrold Tanner (Tammi) of Dumas, Arkansas, Terry Tanner (Tonja) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Dwight Merrill, Sr. (Julia) of Dermott, Arkansas; four sisters, Brenda Herring (Brent) of Conway, Arkansas, Glenda Riley (David, Sr.) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Debra Tanner (Darrell) of Dumas, Arkansas, Mable Davis (Johnny) of Stuttgart, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one aunt, Pearlean Campbell of Gary, Indiana; special friend, Larry Jordan of Virginia Beach, Virginia; surrogate sister Dorothy Waddy of Dumas, Arkansas and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 100 N. Cherry Street, Dumas, Arkansas. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church,100 N. Cherry Street, Dumas, Arkansas 71639. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Dumas, Arkansas
