In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Bell family. Mildred's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Minister Mildred S. Bell.

Minister Mildred S. Bell was born to Carrie and Curtis Robinson, Sr on March 31, 1931 in Scott, Ar. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She moved to Fort Smith, AR. where she met and married Rev. Elphin Maxwell Smith Sr. She later married Robert L. Bell.

Minister Bell worked for Sparks Regional Medical Center for over 30 years and retired. She always took great pride in caring for and serving the needs of her patients.

Minister Bell, more affectionately known as Mother Bell, realized she was called by God and gifted to teach His Word. She studied Theology/Christian Life Studies at Harvest Time Tabernacle and later graduated from Carl Albert State College proudly accepting her hard earned degree.

Mother Bell joined New Covenant International Christian Center under the leadership of Pastors Alan and Debra Smith, where she officially accepted the call to ministry and served faithfully doing what she loved to do. She was known and loved for her practical teaching style, and the witty way she imparted wisdom, especially to young mothers. Her words of advice to all mothers will be long remembered by many because she stated it whenever given any window of opportunity, whether ministry related or otherwise. . . “Keep ‘yo chuldrens at home”….and “get ‘yo blood prusha checked”.

She was preceded in death by LeRoy McCraw, Carolyn Willis, Najiyyah Hamidullah, Phillip Smith, and Rochelle Matlock.

Her legacy will be carried on by her husband, Robert L. Bell; sister, Mattie Lois (Clyde) Lawrence of Kansas City, MO; children, Johnny McCraw of Pasedena, CA, James Maxwell (Amy) Smith Sr. of Fort Smith, AR., Elphin Maxwell (Felicia) Smith Jr, of Fort Smith, AR., David Maxwell (Arbradella) Smith of Little Rock, AR, Alan (Debra) Smith, Sr., Carrie Nevers, Shirley Triplett all of Fort Smith, AR, Anitta Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Kathy Smith of Fayetteville, AR., Geoffrey Bell of Fort Smith, AR, Gary (Darla) Matlock of Lawton, OK; 51 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and family members.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6-7pm at New Covenant Baptist Church, 4400 North N. Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Celebration of life service will be held, Friday, September 15, 2017, 11:00am at New Covenant Baptist Church, 4400 North N. Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Committal service and final resting place will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, 11:00am at Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas
