Wayne's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Oliver Wayne Mitchell was born on August 9th, 1950 to the late Lee A. Mitchell and Ruth M. Mitchell in Conway, Arkansas. He joined the Church of Christ, on Harrison and Willow Street, in Conway, Arkansas at the age of 18 years old. Oliver Wayne was not married and did not have any children. He was a talented drummer and loved baseball.
Oliver Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ruth Mitchell, his oldest sister, Willie Ruth Glover, and brothers Floyd Mitchell, Elvin Mitchell, Prince Mitchell, and Charles Mitchell. Oliver Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, Dorothy Grey of Columbus, Ohio, Louise Jones of Corona,California, Dr. Jamie Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga., Lee A. Mitchell Jr. of Fulton, California, Henry Mitchell of Conway, Ark., Dr. Louis(Vallary) C. Mitchell of Marianna, Arkansas, Nellie (Theopris) Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 12:00pm-6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Robinson Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
To the family, you have my deepest sympathy on your loss. He was one of the dearest friends to my brother Donnie Ray Hood. May you rest in peace and tell Donnie hello for me.
