In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Brewer Family. Virl's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Virl David Brewer.

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Lord called to rest Virl David Brewer. He was born on April 15, 1971, to the late Reverend Denise Bray and the late Virl Brewer, Jr., in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Virl accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a Junior Usher and sang in the Youth Choir. Virl faithfully attended St. Paul United Methodist Church and St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas under watch care.

He attended Fort Smith Public Schools and graduated from Northside High School, Class of 1989. Virl also attended Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas. He was Unit Director of Stephens Boys and Girls Club for many years. Virl worked for Borrowworks and Arkansas Support Network.

He loved the game of basketball and played on the Boys Club, Junior High, High School, and collegiate levels. For many years, Virl refereed the game he loved. In 1997, he started the Sleepers Basketball Organization where he was blessed to coach and mentor young men from all over the state.

Virl was preceded in death by his mother Reverend Denise Bray, father Virl Brewer, Jr., brother Bryant Brewer and sister Tara Brewer.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Johnetta Ann Perkins; four (4)children; Tevin Brewer, Romeil Perkins, Bo Perkins, and Moya Marks; two (2) sisters Andrea Merriwether (Rashim) of Little Rock, AR, and Tori Barnes; his beloved grandchildren KyVeon Perkins, Ivey Perkins, Mariah Jackson, Abriana Perkins, Naiomi Perkins, Jordyn Perkins, Terell Keener, Kali Perkins, Havana Perkins, Emani Porter, and Ensenya Perkins.

He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he encountered.
Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024; 11:00am - 5:30pm (with family hour 4:30pm - 5:30pm) Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024; 11:00 am Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church 1023 North 9th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Burial and final resting place will be held at: Oak Cemetery 1401 S Greenwood Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
