In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Washington family. Perlether's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Perlether Washington.

Perlether (Polly) Washington was born on January 15, 1937 in Springfield, Arkansas to the late Curtis Doss, Sr. and Mattie Toney Doss . She was the youngest of 11 siblings. She accepted the Almighty God at an a early age being baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir. Perlether (Polly) was at home surrounded by her children, nieces, and nephews when she passed.


Perlether (Polly) attended Union Chapel School, and then graduated from Conway County Training School in Menifee, AR. After high school she then went on to marry Richard Washington whom preceded her in death. They lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and eventually moved back to Arkansas. While living next door to her beloved parents and raising 6 wonderful children, Perlether (Polly) devoted years of her life working at the Union Chapel Daycare where she then retired to be a homemaker. She served her community faithfully on the board of directors for many years.


Perlether (Polly) was proceded in death by her parents Curtis and Mattie Doss, her 4 brothers Leonard, Morris, Freddie, and Curtis, her 5 sisters Pernice, Orine, Sadie, Ella, Althamae, her daughter Marilyn Garlington, and a great-grandson Koda Waller. She is survived by one sister Theosis Johnson, 3 daughters Barbara (David) Perry of Morrilton, AR, Lisa Donald of Springfield, AR, Lydia William of South Paris, Maine, 2 sons Jackie Washington of Conway, AR Richard (Demetrice) Washington of Conway, AR 20 grand children 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grand daughter; son-in-laws, Rickey Garlinton and Willie Williams, Jr.; special neighbors, Albert (Pete) Toney, Frances Clark and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins and friends.


Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, 1:00pm at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Rd., Plumerville, Arkansas.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church cemetery.
