In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Clark family. Leon’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Elder Leon Odell Clark.

Elder Leon Odell Clark was a blessing from God on Friday, April 18, 1947 to the late Matthew and Odessa (Lewis) Clark in Vian, Oklahoma. He was also called by God to take his eternal heavenly rest on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his son: Caneen Clark and both of his siblings: Donald Clark and Loretta Williams.


Leon attended the Public School System in Vian, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country for four years, including a tour a Vietnam.


He gave his life to the Lord at Vian Church of God in Christ at an early age. In 2006, he untied with New Covenant International Christian Center. While at New Covenant, he served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, Finance Committee member and “wherever” there was a need.


Elder Clark, as he was affectionally called, enjoyed life and everyone he met. He had the greatest love for the Lord, his family and his church.


Leon will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife: Ngoc Kim Clark; his daughter: Taniyka Gatling both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his four step-sons: Tuan Nguyen of Texarkana, Texas; Bang and Minh Nguyen both of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Binh Nguyen of Richardson, Texas; his two step-daughters: Thao Nguyen and Nina Nguyen both of Rogers, Arkansas and a host of other family members and friends.


Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at New Covenant International Christian Center 4400 North N Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Committal service and final resting place will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
