Mother Helen Louise Brody Williams earthly journey began on May 5, 1926, in the Friendship community of Conway, AR. She was the second child and first daughter born to the union of the late James Brody and Pearl Lee Cox Brody. She prepared for this day at the age of 12, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
Mother Willims began her Christian Walk of faith at the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR. A lifelong member for 86 years, she was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel MBC and one of the oldest residents of the Plumerville community. Her faith was a source of spiritual strength, and she was one of those rare traditional Christian women left. She always wore one of her famous hats, and you would see her clapping her hands and hear her moaning an old hymn as only she could.
Mother Helen Louise Brody Williams was a true matriarch, with God and family being the two constants in her life. She was a caregiver for her father and brother, and her nurturing nature extended to her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. As the family matriarch, she lived out the words of Psalm 90:10, experiencing the love and joy of five generations of children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was instrumental in the raising of us all, serving as a babysitter to some and a mother to others. She had a special name for each of us and a fly swatter to welcome each newborn.
With the help of the Lord, as she would say, she raised eight of her own children, including seven of her grandchildren: Marvin Stickland, Camisha Hammons, LaToya Cobb, Jamie Everette, Victor Donald Jr., Vance Donald, and LaKenya Williams.
Mother Williams was a powerful and independent woman who did not shy away from speaking her mind. She was employed by The Cotton Mill in Morrilton, AR, where she dedicated her time and energy. Her strong work ethic and determination were evident in her career, and she eventually retired from the Conway Human Development Center, leaving behind a legacy of
hard work and perseverance.
She was united in Holy matrimony to Lee Willie (LW) Williams. Nine children were born into this union. Mother Williams was preceded in glory by her parents, James and Pearl Lee Brody; her husband, LW Williams; son, Billie Andrew Williams; two brothers, LeRoy and Doris Brody; and grandchildren, Courtney Williams, Dwight Smith Jr., Flora Jean Walls, and LaQuna
Everette. Great grandchildren: TC Cain, Sha’Kwan Walls, and Javari Washington.
On July 5th, 2024, Mother Helen Brody Williams received her Heavenly wings. Upon her homegoing, she leaves a great legacy of love to her children: Lawrence (Gracie) Williams, Morrilton, AR; Nevader Williams; Levon (Donnie) Walls, Plumerville, AR; Floyd Williams, Lloyd Williams; Flora (Edward) Walls; Mary Williams, Florence Williams, and Keith Bell Jr. Plumerville, AR; and her beloved sister, Sarah Calvin, Morrilton, AR. She was a granny to thirty-five grandchildren, eighty-two great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren: as well as a special friend, Zennettie Black.
Mother Helen Louise Brody Williams will always be cherished and deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her memory will live on in our hearts
