In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Billings Family. Grady's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Grady Billings, Jr.

Grady D. Billings, Jr. was born on the 12th day of January 1951, to Ola Thomas and Grady Billings, Sr. in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His father and mother preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Ethel and Ocie Phillips.

 

Grady was born and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he was the youngest of two (2) siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Fort Smith Public Schools. Grady graduated from Northside High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for several years as a cook.

 

“Shady Grady” as he was affectionately referred to, was a character, he loved to tell jokes, be the life of the party, travel and loved to play pool. He also liked spending time volunteering at the VA.


Grady departed this life on Friday May 16 at Methodist Village Nursing Home.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories one (1) sister: Dorothy Phillips of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Three (3) children: Montrevel Billings, Rashelle Billings and Madeline Billings. Five (5) grandchildren: James White, Jordan Billings, Ja Billings, Aleeya White and King Billings. Five (5) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


Walk through visitation for family and friends will be Thursday May 22, 2025, 9:00am to 4:30pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Graveside service will be Friday May 23, 2025, 1:00pm Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
