In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Rodriguez family. Omega's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Omega Rodriguez.

Omega Rodriguez was born to the late Ernest Cheatham, Sr. and the late Mary Toussaint in Labadieville, LA in an area called Brown Town on may 8, 1930. Omega was baptized at the age of 12 in New Belmont Church of Labadieville, LA by Reverend James J. Antoine.

Omega left Brown Town and moved to Thibodaux, LA where she resided a few years before settling in New Orleans, LA.

Upon moving to New Orleans, Omega worked a number of years at Hotel Dieu Hospital as a Nursing Assistant. After putting her two sons through school and seeing them both graduate, Omega decided to go back to school and she received her GED. Omega also attended Meadows Draughn Business College.She also worked as a private duty Nursing Assistant for several years and finally retired after working ten years as a Pharmacy Tech at Schwegman Brothers Supermarkets.

She moved to Fort Smith, AR in September of 2005, after Hurricane Katrina. She was a Deaconess at St. Luke Baptist Church before she left New Orleans. Her pastor was Reverend Vincent Mitchell. Omega attended King Solomon Baptist Church for several years before becoming too ill to attend church. Reverend Stanley Whitmore was the pastor.

Omega was known as a very neat and kind hearted woman, who dedicated her life to serving the Lord, helping others, and raising her two sons, and teaching them to be respectable young men.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Cheatham, Sr. and Mary Cheatham Johnson; three brothers, Ernest Cheatham, Jr., Lester Cheatham, Thomas Cheatham, II and one sister Pearl Cheatham Moore.

Omega leaves to cherish her loving memory, two sons, Larry Rodriguez and his loving wife Dana of Fort Smith, AR, Geraldo Rodriguez and his loving wife Zondra of Plumas Lake, CA; two sisters, Irene Herron of Elk Grove, CA, Alice Robertson of Labadieville, LA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cheatham of Ponchatoula, LA; grandsons, Coronado Rodriguez, Jeremiah Rodriguez, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Elijah Rodriguez; granddaughter, Lachia Rodriguez; nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews; nieces; great-nephews; great-nieces; great-great nephews, great-great nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5pm-6pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, 11:00am at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 3509 Johnson St, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
