Leon's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Leon Winston Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Leon Winston Johnson, Sr. was born in Marvell, Arkansas on December 23, 1937 to the late Arthur Sr. and Viola Johnson. Leon went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017 surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
Leon accepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful servant to his beloved Union A.M.E. Church for over 50 years where he served on many boards and auxiliaries. His passion was meeting people through his barber shop for over 55 years until his health failed.
Leon leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Minnie M. Johnson. Leon leaves four sons: Gerald Spriggs of Marvell, AR; Leon W. Johnson Jr. (Dorothy) of Minneapolis, MN; Randy Lee Johnson (Monica) of Frisco, TX, and Rodney Johnson (Faith) of Carrollton, TX; and one daughter, Regina Armstead (Bennie) of Little Rock, AR. Leon leaves five granddaughters (Emerald Thompson, Victoria Phillips, Erika Jefferson, Ella Johnson and Destiny Johnson), and seven great-grandchildren (Jaamal Jr, Jamar, Dominique, Jaimie, Sade, Ke'aira and Janysha).
Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Johnson (Velmon) of Camden, AR. Leon leaves eleven siblings: Arthur, Jr.(Lucille) of Marvell, AR; Lonester of St. Luis, MO; Lewis (Katherine) of Little Rock, AR; Queen Daniels of Little Rock, AR; Larry Odell of Little Rock, AR; Robert of St. Louis, MO; Ethel of Little Rock, AR; Charles (Algie) of Little Rock, AR; Ollie B. of Little Rock, AR; Teal Johnson-Woods (Curtis) of Little Rock, AR; and Dayton of St. Louis, MO; two brother-in-laws, (Pelvin Scott, Jr. and D.L. Scott (Jean) of Newport, AR); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved friends.
Leon's family was the center of his life. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Union A.M.E. Church, 1825 S. Pulaski St. Little Rock, Arkansas 72206.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11 AM at Union A.M.E. Church.
