Johnnie "Ms. Peaches" Driver Morris
Johnnie Ruth "Ms. Peaches" Driver Morris, 67, of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, February 9th in a local hospital. She was born November 17, 1948 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the union of Elmo C. and Johnnie Ruth Garner Driver.
"Ms. Peaches" grew up in the A.M.E. Church. She attended Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church and considered Rev. A.J. Parish her pastor. She was truly a very soul stirring soloist. When she sang, you knew to whom she was singing and that she had experienced some things in her life. She considered herself a Methobapticost. She was a "Greeter" for Wal-Mart and was the reason some people went. They didn't go to shop, they went to talk to "Ms. Peaches".
Memorial service will be Monday, February 15, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Ninth Street. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. There will be no viewing. She is survived by a daughter, Jaunice Morris of Fort Smith; three sons, Gerald Driver of Fort Smith, Rodney Morris of Killeen, TX, and Shannon Driver of Oklahoma City, OK; two sister, Anna Richardson of Fort Smith and Lillian Driver of Dallas, TX; one brother, Bobby Driver of Van Buren; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
