In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jesse family. Isaiah's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Isaiah Jesse.

Isaiah Jesse was born on July 21, 1925 to Sampson Jesse, Sr. and Kanzetta Byrd-Jesse. He transitioned into his heavenly home on June 27, 2015 at John L. McClellan VA Hospital after a short illness. He joined Paynes Chapel AME Church at an early age and later joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he remained until his failing health.


Isaiah entered into the U.S. Army on November 12, 1943. He served until March 1, 1946 in the South Pacific where he received a purple heart and an honorable discharge.


He united in marriage to Lucille Martin in May of 1975, who preceeded him in death on May 5, 2004. He is also preceeded in death by his son, Marshall Canady; two sisters, ......... Elizabeth Jesse, Elnora Mariah Garrette; one brother, Zelmo Sampson-Jesse, Jr. and two step sons, Charles Martin and Floyd Martin.


He leaves to cherish his loving memory and is survived by his son, Jackie (Jessica) Percell; daughter, Helen Louise Vick; two step daughters, Jewel (Tyrone) Turner, Learlene (Lewis) Jackson; four grandchildren, Ronnie Canady, Bryant Byers, Patrice Parker, Cheryl Canady and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.


Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015, 11:00 AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 105 Arnold St., Plummerville, Arkansas 72127.

Viewing is to be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Final resting place will be Hickory Hill Cemetery, 1274 Hwy 95, Morrilton, Arkansas 72110.
