In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Williams Family. Wendell's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Wendell Morris Williams.

Wendell Morris “Hippy” Williams was born on March 24, 1943, to the union of Velva and Morris Williams in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He departed this life on Wednesday January 28, 2026, at his home.


Wendell grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended Howard Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School.  He accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his life; and became a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church under the tutorage and leadership of the late Reverend George Edward West.  As a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, he was very active in many functions that bought him close to God. Wendell was employed with the City of Fort Smith Sanitation Department for thirty-five (35) years and received many awards.

 

He married four (4) times to four beautiful women, who loved him dearly. His last wife: April Williams preceded him in death along with his mother Velva Williams, father Morris Williams and beloved nephew Michael Williams.

 

Wendell is survived by his son; Jeremy Williams, daughter-in law and grandson all of Houston, Texas. Two (2) sisters: Sharon Moss and Shirley McNair both of Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Nieces: Angela Bivens, Tanya Moss and Kennetha Mingo and nephew, Max McNair. Along with other relatives and friends who will all truly miss him.


A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday February 8, 2026; 2:00pm to 4:00pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 No. 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901 followed by a celebration of life service on Monday February 9, 2026; 11:00am Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church 4200 Young Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Burial and final resting place: Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
