Shirley’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Mother Shirley Ann Garner was born March 16, 1942 to the late Plummer and Blanche Anderson Easterwood in Conway, Arkansas. She departed this life on Friday, April 8, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Prior to her illness, she was a dedicated and loyal member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church of Conway under the pastorate of Rick Garner. She was a graduate of Pine Street High School in Conway and Barber College in Little Rock. She was the first African-American woman in the history of Conway to work in an all-male barber shop.
Mother Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Garner, Sr.; her father; mother; two brothers; and four sisters.
Mother Shirley leaves to mourn her passing, one brother, Earl (Evelyn) Easterwood of Conway, Arkansas; four sons, Henry, Jr. (Stephanie) of Russellville, Arkansas, Rick (Camron) Garner of Conway, Arkansas, Ronnie (Nanette) Garner of San Diego, California, Dante Garner of Alexander, Arkansas; two daughters, Charmagne Newman of Valparaiso, Indiana, Charish (Noah) Hilliburton of Orebro, Sweden; eight grandsons, Brandon Newman, Deon Garner, Greimante Garner, Jaelon Garner, Jarvis Garner, Michael Garner, Marcus Stevens, Jr., Quinton Garner; two great-grandchildren, Jakai Garner, an unborn great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and a special friend, Mrs. Lorraine Brown and family.
Mother Shirley shall forever be in our love and hearts.
Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022, 11:00am at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 146 Taylor Circle, Conway, Arkansas 72032.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Friendship Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
