In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Arnold family. Sherron’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Sherron Tyrone Arnold.

Sherron Tyrone Arnold “Sonny” was a blessing from God on Sunday, December 29, 1946 to Elinor and Thurlyne (Chase) Arnold, Jr. in Kingsville, Texas. He was also called by God to take his eternal rest on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his father: Elinor Arnold, Jr.; his oldest child: Casandra Montgomery; one of his sisters: Pat Simpson and one of his brothers: Elinor Arnold, III.


Sonny accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at an early age at King Star Baptist Church in Kingsville, Texas. He attended Lincoln High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, were he played football. He later returned back to Kingsville where he graduated from Fredrick Douglass High School in Kingsville, Texas. After high school, Sonny entered the United States Army on October 6, 1966 and served until October 8, 1968; he received an Honorable Discharge. Upon returning form the Service, he worked at Coastal State Oil Refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas until he retired and moved back to Fort Smith.

Sonny loved life and people, especially his children, grand and great-grandchildren, family and friends. He never met a stranger. He loved antique cars and clothes. He would dress every day from head to toe until his health failed.


Sherron will be forever cherished and remembered by his mother: Thurlyne Arnold of Fort Smith Arkansas; his children: Elaine Holiday of Kingsville, Texas; Jermaine Tyrone Grant of Austin, Texas; Cher’ee Arnold of Sacramento, California; Shanita Arnold of Omaha, Nebraska; Eric (Gashiya), Charleen, Sharron Tyrone, Shon’ty Arnold and Ashely all seven of Fort Smith, Arkansas; he also helped to raise Stephen and Key’Son Tucker both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; he has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his siblings: Danny, Eddie (Gloria), Randall “Popo” Arnold, Vanessa Garcia all four of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Kim (Ray) Sanders of Magnolia, Texas; Kevin Arnold, Tonia (David) Citizen all three of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Carla (Willie) Allen of Allen, Texas and Pam Miller of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his sister-in-law: Laura Arnold of Houston, Texas; his aunts: Essie Mae Albernathy of Flint, Michigan and Patricia Cummings of San Leandro, California; his uncle: Clarence Cornelius of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. at New Covenant International Christian Center 4400 North N Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.


Committal service and final resting place will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
