Roderick “Cook” Wise was a blessing from God on Friday, October 10, 1958 to the late Lathel and Ella Mae (Perkins) Wise, Sr. in Fort Smith, Arkansas at Saint Edwards Hospital. He was also called by God to take his eternal rest from Fort Smith on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Vicki Wise and Martha (Callens) Brent.
Roderick spent most of his childhood days in Havana, Arkansas. Cook attended the Fort Smith Public Schools: Howard, Darby and Northside. After graduating from Northside in 1976, Cook signed up for the United States Army. He obtained a Degree in Wire System Installation/Operating in 1978. He was Honorably Discharged in 1982 and moved back home to Fort Smith.
Roderick started his family and his life-long career with Rheem Manufacturing Company after moving back. Working for more than thirty years with Rheem, he played basketball and obtained many different accomplishments within the company. Most people knew him as Cook or DJ E-Z WEE-Z (because of his love for music). He also had a passion for cars of all kinds, but he loved his family most of all. DJ E-Z WEE-Z will forever reside and adored in our hearts. Just as he loved us; we loved him dearly.
Roderick will be forever cherished by his two sons: Justin Harwick of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Roderick (Tiffany) Wise of Van Buren, Arkansas; two grandchildren; seven brothers: Leonard (Paula) Perkins of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Lathel (Terri) Wise, II of Saginaw, Michigan, Randy Wise of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Keith (Alice) Wilson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, James Enoch, John Wise and Anthony Tucker all three of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five sisters: Maria Wise, Latrelle Arnold, Mary Callans, Donna McKinney and Charlotte Welch all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his step-mom: Nellie Wise of Fort Smith, Arkansas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Walk-through visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church 1023 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
