In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Smith family. Tarlee’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mother Tarlee Smith.

Tarlee Charlean Smith was a gift from God on Monday, December 29, 1952 to the late Mary Bell Warren Smith and Matthew Ramsey in Marianna, Arkansas. She was the twelfth child. She was called to take her heavenly rest on Friday, September 10, 2021 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. She is also preceded in death by her brothers: Eugene, Joseph, Alonzo and Alfonzo Smith and her sisters: Lorene Granville, Earlean Smith and Earnestine Howard.
Tarlee attended Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and Church of God in Christ as a young girl under the leadership of Pastor Alexander. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the river. She attended Anna Strong Elementary and Junior High Schools in Arkansas and John Marshall High School in Chicago. She graduated in 1971.
Tarlee worked several years at the Social Security Administration in downtown Chicago, Illinois until early retirement due to health reasons. She later received her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Later in life, she moved to Van Buren, Arkansas to be with her daughter. She was known for saying “Praise the Good Lord Jesus”. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and appreciated her throughout her life.
Tarlee will be forever cherished by her son: Jackie (Nicole) Smith of Chicago, Illinois; her daughter: Deverlyn Smith of Chicago, llinois; her six grandchildren: Deven Goodwin, Javaughn Hogan, Danae Goodwin, John and Jordan Carrington and Giana Smith; her four sisters: Lillie M. Battle, Rose (James Chico) Henson of Chicago, Illinois, Alberta Hailey of Hammond, Indiana and Clara Smith of Saint Louis, Missouri; nephews: Desmond (Shavon) Smith and Derrius Smith (Twins: Ellana and Ethyn Smith) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Burr Oak Cemetery 4400 West 127th Street Alsip, Illinois 60803.
