Lonnie Truman Sharp, Jr. was a blessing from God on Thursday, August 13, 1953 to the late Lonnie Truman Sharp, Sr. and Evelyn DeLois Kolbe in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Lord wanted our family hero to be an angel on Saturday, December 25, 2021 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Patrick Sharp.

Lonnie met his wife, Cheryl, in Colorado while he was driving his motorcycle. The first time he tried to talk to her and pick her up, she flipped him off, and he walked away. Then, he remembered her hips (going back and forth) and he instantly fell in love with her. He circled around the block and talked to her again; and she got on his motorcycle. I remembered that Dad said they only had a small amount of money and in order to get to Fort Smith, they had to dine and dash a lot.

Lonnie was a very hard-working family devoted man. His love for his family was extremely unconditional. He would do anything for his family. He would also give you his last dollar with no expectation of getting it back. He didn’t ask for much in life, but he would talk your ears off (which was a good thing). He was a great person to talk to when you needed someone to lend their ear toward your situation. He taught us so many things in life and we will always love him. Our Dad will be greatly missed, and we will always remember the memories we had with him.

Lonnie will be forever cherished by his wife: Cheryl Sharp of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his three daughters: Felecia (Tracy) McGuffey of Saint Augustine, Florida, Rachel Sharp (Jacob Springs) of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Natalie (Alex) Egerton of Alma, Arkansas; his son: Jimmy Sharp (Shawna Jones) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his thirteen grandchildren: Hailey Crosswhite, Jessica Alexander, Joe Riggs, Durth Hill, TJ McGuffey, Aries McGuffey, Christina Springs, Jacob Springs, Jr., Teddy Sharp, Shane Jones, Bradley Jones, Wesley Sharp and Anastasia Egerton; his seven great-grandchildren: Pedro Santana, Jr., Ayden Santana, Maelynn Alexander, Daven Riggs, Andrews Riggs, Gunter Myer-Hill and Oaklynn McGuffey; his brother: Jimmy Sharp of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his six sisters: Sherry (Dennis) McKinney of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Andrea (John) Sharp-Belcher of Roland, Oklahoma, Gloria (Roger) Collins of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Terry Kolbe and Edwina Kolbe both of Baltimore, Maryland and Stacy (Mark) Deal of Fort Smith, Arkansas and a host of other family members and friends.

Public walk-through will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Celebration of life service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel.
