In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Taylor family. Joe’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Joe Darrell Taylor.

Joe Darrell Taylor, a wonderful baby boy, was a blessing from God on Wednesday, March 16, 1949 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Florence Katherine Taylor and Lott Dickson. He was as well called by God to take his eternal rest on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from Fort Smith. He was also preceded in death by one of his daughters: Anetra Taylor and two of his brothers: Terry Leroy Taylor and Herman Walls, Jr.
Joe was educated in the Fort Smith Public School System: Washington Elementary and Lincoln High School and he later received his GED. He was a very spiritual man; he would often read his collection of Bibles. In the July of 1971, he met Shirly Wilson and later they wed in holy matrimony on August 10, 1971. To their beautiful union, they were blessed with three children: Darrell, Anetra, and Ebony. He was also blessed with two other children: Lisa and Torrence.
Joe was a very generous person; he was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. He was a hard worker and made sure that his family understood about value and to have a level of independence in life. As a family, we never wanted for anything; he always went above and beyond to insure our happiness. He had many hobbies: working on vehicles, collecting cions and watches, and gardening (his favorite). As a child, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend and even acquaintance, he has left many beautiful memories for all to treasure. A fun fact: he taught 3 generations of his family to drive (wife, children, and grandchildren). He truly knew how to leave a footprint in our lives and we will never forget him.
Joe left a pleather of beautiful moments with us: bike riding around the neighborhood, driving around town just for the fun of it, helping in his garden, picking Polk salad and honeysuckles, and making popcorn in a pot before watching a movie or a game (just to name a few). He will be extremely missed, but we appreciate God for all he has done and gifting us with an amazing man with such a charming heart and breathtaking smile that would light up a room. We know that this is not goodbye, but a see ya later! Enjoy your eternal rest with our family that has transitioned.
Joe will be forever cherished and remembered his two sons: Torrence Hogue of Houston, Texas and Darrell Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his two daughters: Ebony Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Lisa (Ken) Schembra of Van Buren, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Benny Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Michael Walls of Arkansas; three sisters: Veronica and Shelia Taylor both of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Ann Walls of Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Committal service and final resting place will be at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
