James’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. James Lester Copeland, Jr.

James Lester Copeland, Jr., (aka Fred) was a blessing from God on August 28, 1963 to Tilda (Posey) Massey and the late James Copeland, Sr. in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was called to take his eternal rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022 also Fort Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Derrick Copeland.
James accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savoir, was baptized at and became a member of the New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Moffett, Oklahoma. He attended the Moffett Elementary School. After finishing elementary school, he went to the Roland Public School System, graduating with the Class of 1982. He was a while employed at Whirlpool, Inc. in Fort Smith.
James was a loving and caring guy who loved his family dearly. He truly enjoyed being around people, having fun. He was also a very free-hearted person who would give anything to anyone. He will be greatly missed by all who adored and appreciated him throughout his life.
James will be forever cherished and remembered by his mother: Tilda Massey; his sister: Michelle Poole both of Moffett, Oklahoma; his two brothers: Sherl Dean Batise and Michael Batise both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his nephew: Marquis “Scooby” Copeland of Roland, Oklahoma; his two nieces: Tamika “Billy” Copeland and LoToya “Blac-Blac” Roberts both of Moffett, Oklahoma, aunts, uncles, a great-niece, four great-nephews, other family relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Moffett Public School Gym 701 Belt Avenue Moffett, Oklahoma 74946.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Center Point Cemetery Redland, Oklahoma.
