James “Big Fella” Carroll, Sr. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, James Carroll of Lonoke, AR went on to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family and friends. James was born March 21, 1953, to the late Sammie and Leola Carroll in England, AR.

James was married to the late Linda Harris-Carroll for 25 years. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2023. They spent 30+ years together building tons of memories and loving on their family and friends. James was the BEST daddy to his kids and loved them unconditionally. James and Linda were very giving and opened their home and kitchen to several family and friends on many occasions. They never wanted to see anyone struggle and would give whatever they could to help uplift anyone in need.

James was a jack of all trades, and in his early years he worked at G&N Farms to provide for his family. He then went on and obtained his CDL license and started driving cement trucks for SRM Concrete, formerly known as L&S Concrete for 33 years. James took pride in being a good employee. He trained many new drivers, including his son, and was nominated for Driver of the Year in 2011. He retired from SRM in 2018 and spent his time fishing and spending time with family.

James could be described as a gentle giant and the life of every party! He kept people laughing with his story-telling skills and his old school euphemisms with one of his favorites being, “I'm Sammie Carroll boy, I ain't one of his daughters!” James had a way of making everyone feel loved and accepted. He and his wife never met a stranger and would give the clothes off their back to help anyone in need.

James was preceded in death by his wife Linda Carroll, son Marcus Carroll, brother Billy Carroll, and brother in love John Harris.

James leaves to cherish his memory son, James Jr. (Laraine), daughter Kristy (Lamont) of Lonoke, daughter Lincola of North Little Rock, grandchildren Sherelle, Tre', Jaylin, TJ, Kaleigh, LaTaya, and Chloe, great-grandchildren BJ & Toodie, sisters Dorothy, Jannie, and Peggy of Lonoke, Barbara (Jerry) of North Little Rock, Judy (Darryl) of Arizona, Sandra (Otis) of Kerr, brothers Steve (Audrey) of Sherwood, Greg of Kerr, and Harry of England. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, 11:00am at New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ, 419 Brown St., Lonoke, Arkansas 72086.
