In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Steward family. Henry’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Henry Marcell Steward.

Henry Marcell Steward, aka “Rudy”, was a blessing given from God on Saturday, August 7, 1971 to the late Earl “Dink” and Patsy (Clark) Steward in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was called by God to take his eternal rest on Thursday, February 3, 2022 also from Van Buren, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by a brother: James Steward.
Henry attended the Van Buren Public School System and he graduated from Van Buren High School in 1989. He professed his life in Christ at Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church and became a child of God. He was employed with Riverside for over 10 years before COVID-19 came on the scene. After having to deal with the many changes in the world, he started working at Simmons Food, Inc in Van Buren, Arkansas.
Henry was a fun-loving kind of guy, truly adored his family and friends. He was the family jokester and thought he was the finest looking of all his siblings. In his younger days, he was a true cowboy. He enjoyed fishing, dancing; and he really loved FORD TRUCKS. He was an avid knife collector and he also had a collection of sunglasses. He was a Nascar fan, and his favorite driver was Carl Edwards #99. He also taught country western line dancing classes for Miss Ellie at Elks Lodge. His dancing took him to Texas and he was also in a commercial. He will be adored and missed by all of his family and friends.
Henry was blessed and cherished in his life with two children: Derek Lane (Deanna) Steward of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Taryn Nicole Steward of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a grandchild: Bryson Marcel Steward of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He found true love with Carla Biggerstaff. To this relationship, he added three stepchildren and four step-grandchildren. He is also treasured by several brothers and sisters: Patsy (Mike) Cook of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Pam (Ron) Childs, Valerie (Donald) Dean, Trina Steward, Kelly Steward all of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Rodney Steward of Garfield, Arkansas, Bobby (Ashley) Steward of Edinburg, Texas and Kenneth Steward of Alma, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Public walk-through will be Friday, February 11, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church 1115 Spring Street Alma, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Beal Cemetery Van Buren, Arkansas.
