In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jeffries family. Gloria’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Gloria Jeane Jeffries.

Gloria Jeane Jeffries was a gift from God given to the late Samuel David and Gracie Mae (Taft) Brewer on Wednesday, February 4, 1948 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was called to take her eternal rest on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joanna Jeffries; a son, Curtis La Mont Jeffries; two sisters, Barbara Ann (Brewer) Blackman and Dorothy Mae (Brewer-Lee) Luke.
Gloria attended Douglas Elementary School in Van Buren, Arkansas. She confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Pastor W. L. Templeton at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Van Buren. Later in life, she went back to her home church and reunited under the leadership of the late Pastor Monroe Brady, now known as Greater Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
Gloria worked for many years at Sparks Hospital (aka Baptist Health) before retiring. She came out of retirement and worked as a cashier at Harp’s Food Stores, and Wal-Mart. Her hobbies included counter-cross stitching, quilting, crocheting, and working puzzles. She loved cooking and family gatherings. She made sure to make each person feel special in her own unique way. As one family member stated, “She was everything to all of us.” She will be missed by all who loved and appreciated her presence throughout her lifespan.
Gloria will be forever cherished and remembered by her husband, George Jeffries, Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sons, Micheal (Gloria) Jeffries of Alcoa, Tennessee and Paul Jeffries of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two daughters, April Jeffries Taylor and Tiffany Jeffries both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, John “Bobby” Brewer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Joe Brewer of Sacramento, California and Benny Benton of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a sister, Mary Brewer of Atlanta, Georgia, and a nephews, nieces, other family members, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelley Highway Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
