In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jones family. Doris’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Doris Marie Jones.

Doris Marie Jones was a gift from God to the late Robert Lee and Johnnie Mae (Moore) Daily, Sr. on Tuesday, January 18, 1944 in Wellborn, Texas. She was called by God to take her heavenly rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Dion Lee May, and two brothers, Robert Earl and Freddy Lee Daily.
Doris graduated from Lincoln High School, and she went on to Abilene Christian College. She graduated from Abilene Christian College with a Bachelor’s in Science and a Master’s in Biology. Doris became a member of the Pierce Street Church of Christ in 1972. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, David Lee Jones, as he preached the Gospel. Her favorite part of Church service was Sunday School.
Doris was a dedicated Christian, loving, caring, and devoted wife. She was also an awesome mother, grandmother, and friend. We could always except her to say, “You better set your house in order”. She also loved reminiscing and being with her family. Her kindness and generosity were truly beyond any words. She was the matriarch of her family (she held that title with joy and love). She was also a “COWGIRL” and liked to drub it up with her brothers. She will be greatly missed by those who loved and appreciated her throughout her life.
Doris leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband, David Lee Jones; her three daughters, Kathie, Keloriest, and Lydia Jones; 15 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Temsha, Kena, Bobby, Kishia, Otis, Marcus, Micheal, Shanies, Tyrone, LaToya, Torris, LaNesha, Tumontay, Courtney; a bonus grandchild, Kamiyah; 30 great-grandchildren, Shaytiona, Javarious, Dionna, Joshua, Honesti, Tionna, Julio, Nylaya, Edwin, Josiah, Shaylapree, Kiyara, Nyesha, Treyvon, Shayniya, Marniya, Hope, Harmony, Melanie, Demarion, Khalil, DeQuan, Tayvin, Amaya, Imanie, Miracle, Zymia, Toriazhia, Torris, and Laila all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three brothers, David (Charlotte) and Lewis Daily both of College Station, Texas, and Andrew Daily of Wellborn, Texas; a god-sister, Lois Cummings of Fort Smith, Arkansas, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ 1930 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Salem Cemetery in Wellborn, Texas.
