In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Walker-Richardson family. Delores’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Minister Delores Gail Richardson.

Delores Gail Walker Richardson, “Sissy”, was a gift from God to the union of Dennis and Ozella “Babe” Mae Walker on Wednesday, September 12, 1951. She was called to enter into her eternal rest on Monday afternoon, December 21, 2020. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by a nephew, James Walker, Jr.
Delores accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at the King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of the late Pastor Louis McGill. She was educated in the Fort Smith Public Schools and was a graduate of Northside High School Class of 1969. While at Northside, she auditioned and was accepted into the prestigious mixed chorus. She married James “Jimmy” Richardson and in this union they were blessed with two children, Jay and Eboni.
Delores worked faithfully with the Fort Smith School District for 32 years before retiring in 2006. Delores was blessed with an angelic voice and was often called to minister in song throughout the community. In 2003 under the leadership of Pastor Alan Smith, she became an Ordained Minister. Her passion for ministering to women lead her to establish Diamonds Women’s Ministry. This Ministry was very dear to her heart, and God allowed her to minister to women throughout the River Valley for several years. Later in life, she became a faithful member of the New Life Church of God in Christ. She was also an accomplished cook and baker in the area, and she truly loved hosting family holiday dinners (her rolls and Red Velvet cake were legendary). She will be truly missed by all who loved and treasured her dearly in life.
Delores leaves to cherish and celebrate her life two children, James ”Jay” (Talicia) Richardson and Eboni (Vincent) Bishop; six grandchildren, Jace Richardson, Yuri Richardson, Andrew Bishop (Memphis, TN), Vasean Bishop, Boston Bishop and Jag Richardson; three great-grandchildren, Darren Jace "DJ", Kycen and Sebastian; four siblings, James “Pookie” Walker, Denise Walker Jones, Marion Walker, and Margret Walker; three nieces, Shea Norwood, Mallory Walker and Maegan Walker; a nephew Aaron Jones; two special sisters, Ginger Sopshire-Hill and Tina Owens; a special daughter, Starla Carter (Philadelphia, PA), other relatives and many friends.

In lieu flowers, the family is requesting donations are given to Diamonds Women’s Ministry 4600 Rogers Ave. Ste. 20-428, Fort Smith, AR 72903.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Community Bible Church, 9201 Dallas Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72903.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Community Bible Church.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Washington Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
