In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Haynes family. Darryl’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Darryl Leon Haynes.

Darryl Leon Haynes was a blessing from God on Tuesday, January 9, 1698 to William H. and Willie M. Haynes in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He took his flight to his eternal rest on Monday, November 1, 2021 from the Heart of Hospice in Baptist also in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Haynes; his parental grandparents: Tishon & Alberta Haynes; his maternal grandparents: Mary (Canady) Hardin, Bennie Hardin and L. C. Hardin.
Darryl accepted Christ as his Savoir at an early age during Vacation Bible School and was baptized at First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. C. A. Woods. He attended the Public School System of Fort Smith: Howard Elementary, Darby Junior High and Northside High. At the age of seven, he started playing football at the local Boy’s Club. He became a tough defensive tackle (he would tell you so). After graduating from Northside, he attended 4 years at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas and played on the football team. During his college years, he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. His favorite football team was the Kansas City Chiefs and he hated the Dallas Cowboys.
Darryl loved to joke around with this family (he was the family jokester). He was a very charming, witty and very smart (he would let you know). He was family oriented with his children; he loved them dearly. He loved watching cartoons and playing videos with them. He was an awesome chess player (he taught his daughter to become an awesome player). He was the world’s best Malt-O-Meal maker and he loved taking nature walks. He also fancied snow ice cream that was made by his grandmother. He thought himself to be the best BBQ griller in the world. He also loved cooking and eating (favorites: root beer floats, sweet tea, ice cream and mac & cheese). He was a lover of other people’s animals (he never wanted one). His favorite Bible Scripture was Psalm 34: 6-7. He will be significantly missed by all who treasured and appreciated his presence throughout his life.
Darryl will be forever cherished by his son: Devin Haynes of Conway, Arkansas; his two daughters: Natyssja (Jorge) Lara of Grandview, Missouri and Imani Haynes of Sherwood, Arkansas; his parents: William H. And Willie M. Haynes of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother: William E. Haynes of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his nephew: Robert E. Haynes; his niece: Santana T. Haynes; his aunts: Jacklyn Cheeks, Barbara Cheeks, Alberta Robinson, Queen Ottawa and Elizabeth Hardin; his uncles: Larry (Cristy) Hardin and Barry (Diane) Hardin, a host of many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelly Highway Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas
