In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Blaine Family. Darnell's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Darnell Blaine.

Darnell Blaine, of Pocola, Oklahoma; entered his Heavenly Home on June 4, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on March 5, 1945, to Andy and DoElla Dansby-Blaine in Spiro, Oklahoma.
He started his education in Spiro, Oklahoma; moved to Kansas City, Missouri and later moved back to Spiro. He started his military career at the age of seventeen and served 20 plus years. He retired from the Oklahoma National Guard and the Reserves; where he earned himself a “Blanket Party” during his serving. He started his civilian life and was employed with Norge Manufacturing Plant in Fort Smith until it closed. Later returned to the same building that was acquired by Whirlpool in November 1968 and worked there 39 years until he retired in April 2007. During his employment at Whirlpool; he met and married his wife, Sally Benton on June 19, 1979; and shared 46 years, 11 months and 4 days in marriage. Later in life, Darnell obeyed the gospel at the Ninth Street Church of Christ under Minister Johnny Walker and Roland Church of Christ under Minister Merrill Pence.
Darnell was a very loving and caring person; who was always willing to help and never met a stranger. He traveled the highways near and far; and supported many children in their sports events.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother Diker; son: Donovan; several uncles and special aunts: Irene, Louise, Lily, Ella Mae and Loucinda all known as the “Spoiler Squad”.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Sally Blaine, son Keith Blaine and daughter Cicely (Sam) Nelson. Brother: James (Cora) Mosely. Stepbrothers: Otha Chambers, Shelvery Chambers and Clarence Chambers all of Oakland, CA., stepsisters: Jennie Delt of Ft. Coffee, OK., Josephine Wooley of Ellenwood, GA., and Mary McGill of Tracy, CA., grandson: Patrick and granddaughter: Inspiration Blaine. Along with nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday June 11, 2026; 12:00pm to 4:00pm Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901. Celebration of life service will be Friday June 12, 2026; 9:00am Ninth Street Church of Christ 1930 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Burial and final resting place: Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
