Alvin’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Mr. Alvin Smith was born on June 28, 1944 to the late Willie Alvin Smith and Armalee Patterson in Springfield, Arkansas. He departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the age of 76. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Plumerville, Arkansas. He loved being among friends and family.
Alvin attended school in the community of Union Chapel in Springfield, Arkansas. He was a roofer and retired from Covington Roofing of Conway, Arkansas. He attended Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church until his health started to fail.
Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Virgil, Sr.; two great grandsons, Brandon Virgil and Trenton Jamarion Jefferson; one sister, Willie Eva Toney; and two brothers, Sonny and William Smith.
Alvin leaves a legacy of love to his seven daughters, Beverly (Dexter) Williams of Menifee, Arkansas, Sharon (Morgan) Young of Conway, Arkansas, Rachel Acker of Conway, Arkansas, LaSandra Johnson of Allen, Texas, Yolonda Smith of Conway, Arkansas, Shila Smith of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Shamita Jefferson of Atkins, Arkansas; six sons, Robert (Gail) Virgil, Sr., Rufus (Gloria) Virgil, Sr. both of Conway, Arkansas, Demetrius (Rochelle) Acker of Kansas City, Missouri, Kelvin Canady of Detroit, Michigan, Christopher Wardlow of Conway, Arkansas, Quincy Wardlow of Conway, Arkansas; two sisters Ruby Toney and Bertha Toney both of Springfield, Arkansas; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Walk through visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021, 11:00am at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Plumerville, Arkansas.
