Mr. Alfred Lee "Tampa" Hoskins, 83, of Conway, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born July 12, 1941 in England, Arkansas to Alberta Bynum and Robert Hoskins.
As a young man he took on a man's responsibility at the age of sixteen, taking care of his mother and siblings after his step father died. On January 15, 1966 he was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn A. Reid. To this union three sons were born, Lamar, Archie (Maria) and Rob Hoskins.
He was self-employed as a concrete finisher for many years, and then was employed by the city of Conway for over twenty years until his retirement. He was known for his dedication and commitment to getting any job right. He was also known for saying: "If you can't do it right, don't do it at all".
He served as a dedicated deacon at Palarm Chapel MB Church and later at Zion Temple COGIC until he was unable to serve.
He put God first in everything he did. He was dedicated to his wife and children. He was a good steward of his finances and a great worker for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Bynum; father Robert Hoskins; three sisters and one brother.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and dedicated wife, Carolyn; three sons, Lamar Hoskins, Archie (Maria) and Rob Hoskins; sister-in-laws, Camillia Reid, Monica Harper and Pamela Fuller; brother-in-law, Columbus Harper; grandchildren, Marcello Hoskins, Rob Hoskins, Jr., Roshun Hoskins, Christina Hoskins Brown, Victoria Toney and Makayla Hoskins; siblings; seven brothers; three sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, 11:00am at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, 8112 Bicentennial Rd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Robinson Cemetery, Conway, Arkansas.
My thoughts and prayers are going out towards sister Hoskins and her family for this time of loss. Deacon Hoskins was a good person at the church and I know he will be missed. Rest in peace Deacon Hoskins.
