In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Gilyard family. Albert’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Albert Claude Gilyard.

Albert Claude Gilyard was a gift from God on Tuesday, August 16, 1949 to the late Albert L. and Louise (Folks) Gilyard in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was likewise called by God to take his eternal rest on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from Fort Smith. He was also preceded in death by two of his brothers: Lawrence Josenberger and Ronnie Gilyard and one of his sisters: Linda Gilyard Mays.
Albert received his education from the Fort Smith Public Schools. He lived his life to the fullest as he saw fit and with few regrets. He also had a liking to cars and trucks, especially older models.
Albert will be forever cherished and remembered by his two sons: Curtis Lamont Gilyard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Roderick Jerome Gilyard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother: Kenneth Brewer of Fort Myers, Florida; his sister: Joyce Gilyard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a life-long friend: James Felton Mays of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
