In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Davis family. Henrene’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Henrene Davis-Gordon.

On Tuesday morning, September 1, 2020, an Angel entered into the hospital room of Henrene Davis-Gordon in Chicago, Illinois and carried her soul away to that “Land of Jesus Promise”.

Henrene Davis-Gordon was the first-born child of Thomas Duane and Rosemma Juanita Johnson Davis, Jr. in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on September 24, 1939 and was named in honor of Thomas’s Uncle Henry Lee, who raised him to young adulthood. Henrene attended Washington and Howard Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1958 in Fort Smith.

Henrene accepted Christ at an early age, at Mt. Zion CME Church and later in life united with First Church of God in Christ. While in Illinois she attended The Living Word Christian Center, in Forest Park.

Henrene inherited the spirit of perservance early in life, and pursued a variable work history as a cook in Tulsa, and at Kress Dept. Store in Fort Smith, as an Elevator Operator at First National Bank, as an Inspector and Lab Technician at Whirlpool, and Sales Clerk at Sears. Moving to Indiana and Illinois, Henrene worked as a truck driver and eventually retired from Sprint. She was discharged from the Air National Guard of Illinois after 22 years of honorable service as an E-6 Technical Sergeant.

Henrene was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Catherine, sister, Molly Davis and brothers James Haley-Davis and Jeffery Franklin Davis.

She found the loves of her life in her daughter Jennifer Michelle Williams, her son, Elder Samuel Williams, Jr. and grandson, Aaron Michael Williams. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Leah Mathis, Mary RheAnn Davis, Rebekah (Sam) Walton, Crystal (Lawrence) VanLue, Joy (William) Yancy, Faith (Vincent)Forte, Candace (Vorry) Moon and brothers, T.D., Michael (Laverne), Joseph (Jacqueline), John Anthony Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A public walk through will be from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901 | 479-782-9200.
