Murtis’ earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Murtis Montgomery.

Murtis Marie Montgomery was born on May 22, 1951 to the late Vallard, Sr. and Beatrice
Campbell in Spiro, Oklahoma. Murtis was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Douglas, Harvey, Sr., Harold, Sr., Joe Louis, James, Vallard, Jr., John and Robert, and her sisters, Rebecca, Truby, Ruby and Annie Mae.
She attended Spiro High School and subsequently moved to Chicago, Illinois. On March 25, 1972, Murtis was united in holy matrimony to the late Allen Forrest Montgomery and to this union a child was born, Rodney.
Murtis was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed many facets of life, especially spending time with family and friends. She loved cooking, gardening, music, antiquing and visiting garage sales.
Murtis leaves to cherish her memories her son, Rodney Montgomery of DeSoto, Texas; a
brother, Elbert (Deborah) Campbell of Atlanta, Georgia; and four sisters, Alice Ashley of
Duncanville, Texas, Vernell Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Barbara Campbell Grayson of Cedar
Hill, Texas and Veronica Campbell of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Sanaa Montgomery of
Fort Worth, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Fort Coffee Cemetery, Fort Coffee, Oklahoma.
