Reverend Steve Wright Sr. was born on July 12, 1952 in Tarry, Arkansas to the late Lucy Rivers and the late Arthur Wright. Steve gained his heavenly wings on the evening of January 1, 2020 at his home in Sherwood, Arkansas. Steve professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tarry, Arkansas. It was then when he developed a passion for servanthood. As a child, his mother would take him with her to visit the sick and those in need. As a teenager he took on those responsibilities himself. He remained a faithful servant working within the church. Over the years, Steve served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Servant Leader for the Prison Ministry, a member of the Grief and Drama Ministries, and as a Licensed Ordained Minister. Steve attended Glendale High School and continued to further his education by completing the Christian Training Studies Program at Arkansas Baptist College and was currently enrolled at Central Baptist College. Over the years, Steve worked as a Pipefitter and Nursing Assistant. He retired after 13 years as an Audiologist Assistant at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Steve enjoyed acting, reading, capturing memories on camera, and public speaking. He was a true fashion aficionado and a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. In his spare time, he participated in the Northside Post Toastmasters Club (#3702) and won the first District 43 Speech Contest. Steve also served as a Lay Chaplain for Community of Hope Episcopal. Steve was loved by his coworkers, friends, and family.
Steve leaves a legacy of love to his children, Steven Terrell Wright of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Terry Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; Tonda Wright of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Steve Wright, Jr. (Cristal) of Forney, Texas; Ortavius Tatum (Chris) of Fishers, Indiana; Joslyn Wright of Columbus, Ohio; and Chris Wright of Columbus, Ohio; his brothers and sisters, Carl E.
