Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." James Kevin Oliver, 63, was born in May 22, 1955 to the late Willie Earl and Dorothy May Oliver in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Our beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed from earth and entered into rest on April 23, 2019. He is also preceded in death by a son, Juan Oliver and his maternal and paternal grandmothers, Jessie Jones and Ruby Oliver.
Kevin graduated from Northside High School, Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1974. He was one of the first two black male operators to acquire a position at Southwestern Bell in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Shortly afterwards, he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he married and had two sons.
Kevin attended Trinity Anglican Church in Leawood, Kansas, where Father Pinto is Priest.
Kevin is survived by his son, Jermaine Oliver of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Sherry Sewell of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Carla Oliver-Hogue and Allison Oliver of Jacksonville, Arkansas; two brothers, Mitchell (Esther) Oliver and Byron (LaKisha) Oliver of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five nieces, Shvawn Dixon, Shalonn (Chukwuka) Ezeluomba, Jamile Oliver, Stephanie Houge, and Tandem Mays; four nephews, Fredrick Sewell, Jarrete (Stacy) Hogue, Michael (Kiara) Oliver, and Devin Oliver, and many beloved great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday May 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Mission United Methodist Church 721 North 10th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Washington Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
