Phyllis Dianna Hampton, daughter of George Dedmon and Josephine Hollinshed, answered the call to depart from this life to a life of far fairer on March 17, 2019. She was born on January 29, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was united in holy matrimony to Donald Hampton, Sr. on March 16, 1966, and to this blessed union six children were born.

As a longtime member of Longley Baptist Church, she served God with all of her heart, through the Longley Baptist Church Mass Choir, Drama Ministry, Gospel Choir and Sunday School teacher. Whether an announcement, a welcome or a prayer, she brought an unmatched energy and vibrance to everything she did in service to the Lord.

Phyllis was preceded in departure from this life by her sister, Doris Jean Dedmon, and her husband.

Phyllis, also known as “Mama” and “Mama Hampton”, was “everybody’s mama,” and will be remembered for her infectious laughter, no-nonsense style, and welcoming arms. She held no grudges, inviting everyone into her family without prejudice or pretense and was proud to serve as a matriarch of a house that welcomed everyone.

Reunited with Donald, the only love she ever knew, she leaves to cherish her precious memories, her three sisters, Carolyn Dedmon of Fort Worth, Texas, Alicia Dedmon, Angela Haynie both of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Joseph Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Sheliscia “Nikki” Hampton of Conway, Arkansas, Donnielle Coby of Rowlett, Texas; four sons, Kyle Hampton of McKinney, Texas, Kourtney Hampton of Lewisville, Texas, Donald Hampton of Plano, Texas, Brandon Hampton of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces (“two times over” as she would say) Kyla Longley and Raquel Longley of Lewisville, Texas; nephews, Terry Dedmon of McKinney, Texas, Greg Milton of Grand Prairie, Texas, Tavie Hampton of Little Rock, Arkansas; nieces, Tracy Hampton Tolbert and Tina Hampton both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Letitia Hampton Hinton of El Dorado, Arkansas; son-in-law Kent Coby of Rowlett, Texas; daughter in-law, Melinda Hampton of McKinney, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, and a host of additional nieces, nephews, family, friends, cousins, in-laws, and her sister-cousins Janet Harris, Shirley Cornelious, Wilma Ruth Reese, Evelyn Phillips, Lorraine Robinson, Patricia Croon, Queenie Hampton, and so many others who spent countless hours talking, caring, loving and growing together as a family. She loved more people than can be named, and her memory lives on in each and every one of you.

Family and friends visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Longley Baptist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Celebration of life service will be held Monday, March 25, 2019, 11:00am at Longley Baptist Church, 9900 Geyer Springs Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209.

Committal service and final resting place will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 12:00pm (noon) at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72120.
