In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Steward family. James' earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. James Steward.

James Earl "Head" Steward was born April 19, 1960 to the late Earl Edward "Dink" and Patsy Steward. He departed this life on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, AR.
James was the second of 10 children. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist Church where he remained until his death. He received his education through the Van Buren School System. His favorite thing was woodworking. Head was one of the most good hearted people you would ever meet. If you asked, and he had it, so did you. Everytime...with the same greeting "What are ya doing", and upon leaving, "I'll holla back at ya".
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Velma Clark and Marie Steward.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Judy Steward of Alma, AR; two sons, Jermale (Raven) Jones and of Van Buren, AR and Tyler Steward of Fort Smith; a daughter, Fanchon (Johnny) Phanphengdee of Van Buren, AR; nine siblings, Patsy (Mike) Cook of Fayetteville, AR, Pam (Ron) Alston of Fort Smith, AR, Kenneth Steward of Alma, AR, Bobby (Ashley) Steward of Edinberg, TX, Valerie (Donald) Dean of Fort Smith, AR, Trina Steward of Fort Smith, Kelly Steward of Alma, AR, Henry Steward of Alma, AR, Rodney (Isabel) Steward of Rogers, AR; five grandchildren, Jara Jones, Daxxton, Kandence, Meliah, and Leilyn Phanphengdee all of Van Buren, AR, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5-6pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, 11:00am at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1115 Spring Street, Alma, Arkansas 72921
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Beal Cemetery, Newtown, Arkansas.
