Elder Jacob Louis Mosby, Sr.

Elder Jacob Louis Mosby, Sr. was born June 6, 1946 to the late Henry and Hazel Price-Mosby.

Jacob gave his life to Christ at an early age. He graduated from Pine St. High School in 1965. Jacob was married to Martha Jean Seay who preceded him in death and to this union, one son was born, Jacob L. Mosby, Jr. After the passing of his wife, Jacob joined the United States Army in August 1968 and served in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged on April 4, 1970. Jacob then moved to Dallas where he met and married Mary Ann Sims on August 16, 1971.

Jacob rededicated his life to Christ in 1972 at the Greater Harvest COGIC where he served until the couple moved to Conway, AR and became a member of the Mt. Sinai COGIC under the leadership of Elder T.R. Quick, Sr. He later served on the Deacon Board and as Minister of Finance under Elder James Johnson and in 1984 was appointed Pastor of Meredith Memorial COGIC in Hazen, AR where he served faithfully from 1984 until December of 1990. Pastor Jacob was then appointed Pastor of Light of the World COGIC in Morrilton, AR where he served faithfully until his health was afflicted in January of 2000. He was also an active member of several axillaries of the church, including, Superintendent of Sunday School - 2nd jurisdiction under Bishop Donnie L. Lindsey, Bible Band, YPWW, and Home Foreign Mission. Elder Jacob Mosby, Sr. faithfully worked for the United States Postal Service from 1969 until 2000. In May of 2000, he received the National Association of Letter Carriers Award for special recognition and deep appreciation of his commitment, contributions and loyal friendship to Branch 1592.

In May of 2004, Jacob was presented a Certificate of Appreciation by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs-Adult Day Care for being known as the man with the ‘Best Smile’ in the program.

Elder Jacob is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Billy Jean, and 4 brothers, Pastor John Henry, Kirby “Leon”, Wardell, and Jerry Mosby.

Elder Jacob L. Mosby, Sr. leaves to cherish his homegoing: His loving and faithful wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Sims-Mosby “Darlin”; 8 sons, Jacob (Renea) of Orlando, FL; Shannon (Schemekia) of Little Elm, TX; Rodney of Hallettsville, TX, Antony, Christopher, Joseph, Benjamin, Timothy (Amanda) all of Conway, AR. 4 daughters, Catina of Dallas, TX, Yolanda (Roderick) Warren of Hollywood, CA; Leah and Jennifer of Conway, AR; 26 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren (including one on the way).;3 sisters, Barbara (Lee) Maltbia, Joyce Haynes both of Conway, AR; Donna (Limmie) Ferguson of McKinney, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Mt. Sinai Church of God In Christ, 349 Hwy 365, Conway, 72032.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, 11:00 AM at Mt. Sinai Church of God In Christ, 349 Hwy 365, Conway, 72032.

Committal service and final resting place will be at Ray Cemetery, 277 Stanley Russ Rd., Conway.
