In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Hakim family. Alim’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. Alim Hakim.

Alim Hakim (aka Tyrone Wallace Smith) was born on April 23, 1966 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Eddie Shoates and Lanie Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Shoates.
He was a student of the Fort Smith Public Schools. He attended Howard Elementary, Darby and Kimmons Junior High. He was a 1984 graduate of Northside High School. He worked in the construction and food industry (he thought he was the best cook in Fort Smith). In the late 1980's, Alim joined and chose to study the Nation of Islam as taught by the Most Honorable Elijah Mahammad.
Alim had many talents, like drawing, singing, and cooking. His favorite song was the “Caravan of Love” by the Isley Brothers. Along with his compassion and love of people and life, he touched so many in his life. If you were feeling down, he could always make you feel better by simply encouraging you with a kind word and/or his one-of-a-kind laugh.
Alim loved a good game of dominoes. He was an avid Razorback fan (basketball and football), and also loved the Dallas cowboys. He was truly a unique person and will always be missed, treasured, and loved by many.
Alim leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Chandria Buffington of Camden, Arkansas; his two daughters, Topazia and Ecazia Hawkins of Spiro, Oklahoma; three step-sons, Elliott, Tyh, and Elon Hawkins of Spiro, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Tyeesha Hawkins of Spiro, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Aiden Cole and Antoniet Hawkins; his brothers, James Hines, Zachary Willis, Roger X. Willis, and Ronald Smith all four of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a sister, Dorothy (Darrell) Maxberry of Van Buren, Arkansas; six aunts, Errie Jones, Gearline Martin, Gloria McKinney, Sharon Smith, and Dannie Brown all of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mary Anne Douglas of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; two uncles, Roosevelt and Orie Smith both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; his former wife and mother of his children, Erica Hawkins of Spiro, Oklahoma, and a host of many relatives and friends.

2. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL NOT HAVE CHAIRS FOR SEATING
3. ONLY 10 PEOPLE MAY COME TO THE FUNERAL HOME FOR INITIAL VIEWINGS
4. NO LIMOUSINE SERVICE
5. NO PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS OF FUNERALS VIA NEWSPAPER, WEBSITE, OR STAFF
6. NO PUBLIC VISITATIONS OR WAKES
