In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Taylor family.  David’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mr. David Taylor, Jr.

David "June Bug" Taylor, Jr. was born January 1, 1944 to the late Cleo Owens and David Taylor. He was called home to be with God at the age of 75, on the morning of November 26, 2019 surrounded by family. Along with his parents, David is proceeded in death by his son, Keith Taylor and two brothers, Roy Gene McCormick and David Parks.

 

David was born in Clarksville, Arkansas and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He joined Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith at an early age. He attended the Fort Smith Public Schools. He went on to marry the love of his life, Doris Jean Walker, 55 blessed years after meeting her at  Spiro High School football game. David was a member of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged.

 

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, family man and friend to all who knew him. He will truly be missed by all who treasured him.

 

David leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Doris Jean Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three sons, Tracy (Sakanh) Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Tony (Misty) Taylor of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma and Mark Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one daughter, Cicily Taylor of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three brothers, Lemuel and Patrick Parks, and Marshall Taylor all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five sisters, Floydean (Lee) Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mary (Edward) Moreland, Estella Parks, Leola Triplett, and Glynis Parks all of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 from 6-7pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary, 611 N. 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas.

 

Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2019, 11:00am at First Church of God in Christ, 2037 North 14th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

 

Committal service and final resting place will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
