In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Johnson family. Sandra's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mrs. Sandra Yvette Ross Johnson.

Our world is much richer because we were blessed to have Sandra Yvette Ross Johnson "Sapphire" in our life. She began her earthly journey through life on the twenty-third day of October, 1961 in Los Angeles, California and completed her journey on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sandra was born to Robert Ross and Martha Allen Ross. At an early age she accepted Christ into her life and continues her spiritual growth by becoming both active member of Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas and Roadside Church of God in Christ in Ozan, Arkansas where she became a member of the choir, the Sunshine Band Director, youth bus driver for numerous competitions and special events, and a strong advocate for successful young people.


She was passionate and well known for her public speaking and written skills, particularly in the are of poetry. She always had encouraging words for people.


She graduated from Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas in 1979. After graduation, she attended Southern Arkansas University and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. She then relocated to Wichita, Kansas where she spent most of her career as a special education supervisor and educator.


After returning to Hope, she was united in marriage to Carl E. Johnson in 1992 and to this union two daughters, Cajua and Carbrienna were born. Until her health declined, she was employed at the school of Hope, Arkansas for many years.


She was preceded in death by her son Antwan Brandon; father, Robert Ross; mother, Martha Allen Ross; Grandparents, Willard & Maggie Ross, and Grant & Constance Allen.


She leaves to cherish her loving memory; husband, Carl Johnson; mother-in-law, Flossie Johnson; five daughter, Cajua Johnson of Conway, Arkansas, Carbrienna Johnson of Hope, Arkansas, Tiffany (Justin) Williams of Center Point, Arkansas, Kiffany Golston of Ozan, Arkansas and Angela Scoggins of Nashville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Z'Kiyria Willis of Hope, Arkansas, Z'Onna and Zion Williams of Center Point, Arkansas; two sisters, Sonji (Rodney) Flemons, Rosalyn Ross of Hope, Arkansas; two brothers, Kendric Ross and Patrick Ross of Hope, Arkansas and a host of in-law siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.


The family of Sandra Johnson will receive friends Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church, 702 S. Hazel St., Hope, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, 2:00 pm at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1002 East Beech St., Hope, Arkansas.
