Ravin Caldwell, Sr., lovingly known as Mr. C was born in Rodessa, Louisiana on July 31, 1937 to Leola Phillips and Napoleon Caldwell. Who have both proceeded him in death. Ravin was an only child.

Ravin met and married his wife Laverne Johnson in 1957 and became the proud parents of six children three boys and three girls. His sons Richard, Philbrick, Ravin, Jr. his daughters Felicia Green and Belinda Caldwell-Washington and Fonda 'Blossom' who has proceeded him in death.

Ravin is one who never met a stranger. Upon moving to Ft. Smith he found a family with the same surname of Caldwell who allowed him to stay in his home until he was able to get on his feet, in the community of Midland Heights where he made his home for the last 50 plus years. Construction work brought Ravin to Arkansas. He worked with Kerr Lock and Dam in Sallisaw and then helped with the construction of Central Mall with Womack Construction. Later, Ravin was hired onto MacSteel where he operated a crane for many years. He retired in 1996.

Ravin was a very hard worker and never missed days of work and was very demanding about how things got done. (the right or his way). Ravin was always a great help in the community and would give the shirt off of his back to help you. He enjoyed watching and supporting his children and grandchildren. Ravin has been a great presence in Ft. Smith and was loved by many. He will truly be missed.

Ravin leaves to cherish his loving memory,  his wife of 60 years LaVerne; three daughter and laws , Jo (Richard) Caldwell of Auburn, AL, Vanessa (Phil) Caldwell of Ft. Smith, AR, DeAnna (Ravin) Caldwell of Laurel, MD; 13 grandchildren Porter Caldwell,  Ryan Caldwell, Philbrick Caldwell, Jr, Bria Caldwell, Anna Gordon, TaylorGreen, Sydney Green, Ashton Caldwell, Talia Caldwell, Ravin Caldwell, Kylin Washington, Khaden Washington, Karys Washington; two great-children and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
